Adarsh Yuvak Sangh pipped Sao Minguel Taleigao 3-2 to move into the semi-finals of Fr. Chico Bayside Cup football tournament organized by Candolim Sports Club at Dr. Gustavo Monteiro Stadium, Candolim onTuesday
In a pulsating match; Adarsh Yuvak Sangh came from behind and put it across their rivals.
ISao Minguel took the lead in the 7th minute through Francis Rebelo following a defensive lapse by the Adarsh defence. Francis Rebello ran down the left flank to pounce on a misdirected pass by an Adarsh player and slotted home beating Adarsk goalkeeper Lawrence.
Adarsh nearly equalised in the 15th minute but Ajay shot over the bar with the Sao Minguel goalkeeper at his mercy. Adarsh again failed to come on level terms and this time it was Bhanudas who missed from a hand shaky distance. However, Bhanudas made amends for his miss and scored the equaliser for Adarsh Yuvak Sangh in the 26th minute tapping the ball in off a beautiful pass.
Adarsh Yuvak Sangh raised their game and dominated the second half proceedings but their forwards again missed sitters. It was again Sao Minguel who snatched the lead through Cedrick Peixeito whose power-packed shot off a direct kick entered the net as Adarsh goalkeeper Lawrence failed to sight the ball.
Adarsh retaliated and managed to equalise. San Minguel through Ajay in the 15th minute of the second half.
As the match appeared it was heading for the tie-breaker; Verissimo Rodrigues broke the deadlock to make it 3-2 in favour of Adarsh.
Sao Minguel fought well to come on level terms but their forwards could not find the net.
