MAPUSA: Aman Govekar scored a brace as Sporting Clube de Goa overcame 9 men Goa United Sports Academy 3-0 in GFA’s U-14 First Division League at Duler Stadium, Mapusa on Sunday. Sporting Goa led 2-0 at the interval.
Goa United turned up with only nine players and put many men behind the ball throughout, using defensive tactics. The ball rarely travelled into the opposing half off the field.
Aman kept up his amazing goal scoring form by netting as early as the eighth minute, with a splendid turn and low drive.
Ten minutes before the break, Malcom Gonsalves doubled the lead for the Flaming Oranje with a fierce shot.
By the end of the first half, Sporting Goa could have been leading by a tennis score, but their opponents did well to keep them at bay.
Changing over, Sporting Goa continued where they left off. Aman netted his eighth goal in as many games, with a wonderful slalom run into the box and a sublime finish to match.
Sporting Goa made substitutions late on to rest players for their next match, but still maintained the pressure.
