PANJIM: Sao Jose de Areal put it across Santa Cruz of Cavelossim in a tightly fought encounter to register a 2-1 victory in 8-a-side CRCC Chinchinim-Deussua Panchayat Cup football tournament at Chinchinim church ground, Monday.
Santa Cruz of Cavelossim took an early lead in the eighth minute of the game with Raju Cardozo scoring. Sao Jose de Areal had to wait a good 10 minutes when Franky Valladares drew level, when the former converted a nice cross by Sheldon Dias.
Eventually, Daryl Costa ensured a victory for Sao Jose de Areal when he scored the winning goal just two minutes before the final whistle. Franky was named man-of-the-match.
