: Vasco Police on Monday arrested three persons on charges of stabbing two men at Vasco Railway station late Sunday night.
According to PSI Harish Gawas, the incident occurred on Sunday at about 9.30 pm when Lal Singh, Mahesh Rathod and Deepak Kumar, who are working in the pantry, were seated in a train compartment.
PSI Gawas said Joseph Kosy (Khariwada) and Rajesh Kunalkar (Dabolim) questioned Lal Singh on their presence at the railway station and wanted to know why they were seated in the train.
According to police, either Kosy or Kunalkar reportedly slapped Lal Singh and left the train compartment. Singh and others followed Kosy and Kunalkar and entered into an argument at the platform and sought to know why Singh was slapped without any reason.
PSI Gawas stated that the argument went out of control and in a fit of anger, Singh and others allegedly stabbed Kosy and Kunalkar, causing injuries on the chest and abdomen. Kosy and Kunalkar were rushed to Chicalim Cottage Hospital, from where they were referred to GMC Hospital, as the stab injuries were serious in nature.
Vasco Police later arrested Singh, Rathod and Kumar under Section 307 IPC and the accused have been remanded to five days police custody. Police said the offence has been registered against the both the parties and police is investigating the case.
The police are also investigating if previous enmity could have been the motive behind the arguement and the subsequent attack.
