PANJIM: BAFF played their hearts out to drub Nerul SC by 3-0 margin to enter the final of Goveia Cup organised by YSC Colvale at Colvale Church ground.
Both teams pressed for the early lead as BAFF’s Shaheen Shaikh missed three chances, while for Nerul SC Siddharth Shirodkar missed an easy tap with BAFF goalkeeper Gauresh Popkar closing down on him.
BAFF went ahead in the 40 minute through Sanket Pal’s long ranger and soon thereafter in the 42nd minute Pranav Gaonkar made it 2-0 for BAFF off a Shaheen floater which was pulled back by Chandan Govekar to lay it on a platter for Pranav Gaonkar who tapped the ball home.
Chandan Govekar scored the third goal for BAFF in the 48th minute with a solo effort to put the match beyond the reach of Nerul SC.
Nerul SC however made a flurry of attacks but a goal was elusive till the end.
The player-of-the-match was awarded to Shaheen Shaikh of BAFF by Shankar Kalangutkar, Goa Football Association Match Commissioner.
BAFF now will play against St Anthony SC, Marna, in the final on December 29.
