PANJIM: Mother Teresa, Bambolim defeated Vailankanni Boys, Loutolim 5-4 via the tie-breaker to storm in to the quarter-final of Trawler Owners Cup floodlit football tournament, organized by Siridao Boys, at River Plate ground, on Monday. The teams were locked 2-2 at full time.
Bambolim took the lead in the 20th minute through a powerful shot by Mahesh but Cliff equalized for Loutolim.
In an exciting second session, Loutolim moved all out and Clencio put them ahead, 2-1.
However, Sunkiot levelled terms to force a penalty shoot-out which was eventually won by Bambolim.
On Sunday, in an exciting inaugural match, Candolim Boys 7 defeated SFX Chicalim 2-1 t enter the quarter-finals.
Chicalim took the lead in the 15th minute through a powerful shot by Sachin. Soon, Candolim mounted pressure and were awarded a penalty which Mario made it count. Post resumption, Candolim had more ball possession and Gaurav netted the match-winner with a powerful shot.
