MARGAO: Bardez Veterans beat Ambelim Veterans 3-2 via the tie-breaker to emerge champions at All-Goa Navelim Veterans football tournament organized by Navelim Veterans at Rosary ground, Navelim. There was no score at full time.

WINNERS: The victorious Bardez Veterans players 
receiving the Navelim Veterans Trophy from Industries 
Minister Mahadev Naik, in the presence of Fisheries 
Minister Avertano Furtado and MLA Benjamin Silva 
at Rosary ground, Navelim.

Bardez Veterans were served by former India captain Bruno Coutinho. They held the upper hand in the opening session with Bruno Coutinho dazzling the crowd with artistic display.

At the other end, Ambelim Veterans did well to hold Bardez Veterans with their defenders standing tal.

Bruno Coutinho unleashed a couple of pot shots but they either missed the narrowly or went wide.

Post resumption, Bardez Veterans continued to enjoy the better share of exchanges with their forwards swarming all over the rival penalty area but Ambelim goalkeeper Rajesh Gaonkar was rock solid.

Ambelim Veterans tried their best to net the match-winner but the rival defenders stood tall.

In the tie-breaker, Bruno Coutinho, Fausto Lobo, John Dias were on target for Bardez Veterans.

Benjamin Silva, Brisso Fernandes converted for Ambelim Veterans.

Bardez Veterans were richer by Rs 15,000 while Ambelim Veterans had to settle for Rs 10,000.

Following individual prizes were awarded: First scorer of the final Bruno Coutinho of Bardez Veterans. Best player of the final Brisso Fernandes of Ambelim Veterans. Best defender Fausto

Lobo of Bardez Veterans. Best midfielder John Dias of Bardez Veterans. Oldest player of the tournament Rajkapoor Lotlikar.

Industries Minister Mahadev Naik was the chief guest and gave away the prizes in the presence of guest of honour Fisheries Minister Avertano Furtado and Velim MLA Benjamin Silva.
