The IPL 2026 season has found itself in the middle of yet another controversy after reports emerged involving Punjab Kings spinner Yuzvendra Chahal allegedly vaping during team travel. The incident reportedly surfaced through a vlog recorded by teammate Arshdeep Singh while the squad was travelling from Ahmedabad to Hyderabad.
According to reports, the incident has prompted the BCCI to intervene immediately. While no official statement has been issued by Punjab Kings or the players involved, the board has reportedly instructed Arshdeep Singh to stop vlogging activities during the tournament as a precautionary step.

This comes shortly after Rajasthan Royals captain Riyan Parag was allegedly seen using an e-cigarette in the dressing room during a match earlier in the season. The repeated incidents have now pushed the BCCI to tighten regulations across all IPL franchises.
BCCI Issues Strict Seven-Page Advisory
On Friday, the BCCI circulated a detailed seven-page guideline to all IPL teams highlighting security concerns, anti-vaping measures, and protocols aimed at preventing honey-trap situations involving players and staff.
The advisory clearly stated that vaping and the use of electronic cigarettes are prohibited under Indian law and within IPL premises. BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia warned that violations could lead to disciplinary and even legal consequences.
According to the directive:
“Any individual found engaging in such conduct within tournament premises is not only violating BCCI and IPL regulations but may also be committing a cognisable offence under the applicable statutory framework.”
New SOPs Introduced By BCCI
The board has now introduced several strict Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for players, support staff, and franchise officials.
Visitor Restrictions
No visitors are allowed inside a player or team member’s hotel room without prior written approval from the team manager.
Meetings With Guests
Players can only meet friends, relatives, or external guests in designated public hotel areas.
Mandatory Movement Reporting
All exits from the team hotel must be informed to the Security Liaison Officer (SLO) or Team Integrity Officer (TIO).
Accreditation Rules
Every team member must display accreditation cards at all times inside tournament venues and hotels.
Dugout Conduct
Franchise owners and officials are barred from approaching players during matches inside restricted dugout areas.

The BCCI has also clarified the disciplinary actions that could follow if any player or official violates the new regulations.
