MARGAO: Betalbatim Sporting Club made short work of Varca Sports Club 2-0 to cruise into the quarter-finals of all-Goa St Anthony Super Soccer UK Cup tournament organized by St Anthony’s Sports Club, Colva at DYSA Ground, Colva on Sunday. Betalbatim led 1-0 at half time.
Betalbatim broke the deadlock in the 20th minute through striker Jeston Fernandes.
Crossing over, Betalbatim Sporting Club continued to dictate terms and pushed their opponents on the back-foot. Austin Fernandes doubled the lead.
Earlier, Mathew D’Costa, coach of Sporting Clube de Goa, who was the chief guest inaugurated the tournament in the presence of Anthony Mam Fernandes, president of St Anthony Sports Club, Colva.
