With the three points, Calangute stands fifth in the league table with 14 points from 10 outings, while Signals have 11 points from 11 matches.
After continuous attacks in the first few minutes, Signals came close to scoring in the 9th minute when Harshad Thube sent a short pass to Roshan Singh in the box but the midfielder fumbled with the ball from close.
Calangute punished them for wasting an easy chance in the 17th minute when their U-20 striker Leslee Britto tapped in from close after receiving a cut-back pass from his teammate Joston Pereira.
Energised by a goal, Calangute came up with a second of the match in the 28th minute when Leslee made an inch-perfect through pass to Joston who covered some ground before finishing it in the back of the nylons making it 2-0 for his side.
Just before the half-time whistle, Signals had a chance to reduce the margin but keeper Jason made no mistake to clear Joshley Gomes curling cross when he was trying to find unmarked U-20 player Nitesh in the box.
The Signals players continuously penetrated the rivals defence but could not get the better of Calangute’s last line. The beachside defence line led by Amar Halankar and Mayur did a brilliant job to keep every danger away from their side.
However, Signals came close to scoring in the 66th minute when Pawan Thakur found Kuldeep Kumar from the corner but his powerful header was pushed for a corner by keeper Jason.
Calangute also had a couple of chances in the last few minutes but first Blake Haldankar’s tap went wide from close, while a few minutes, Josley Dias shot was brilliantly tipped by Signals keeper Binu Purushothama.
