Cana Benaulim flays GFA l 33rd soccer tourney halted

The inaugural match of 33rd Cana Benaulim soccer tournament between Sporting Club of Davorlim and Parish Youth, Nuvem organised by Cana Benaulim Sporting Association failed to kick off at Dando ground, Benaulim on Tuesday as the Goa Football Association slapped a notice against the organisers.
Sources disclosed that Cana Benaulim Association did not participate in the GFA tournament as stipulated in the rule book.
When contacted, Agnelo Fernandes, president of the club admitted that the club had received the letter from GFA, asking them to stop the tournament. He wondered how the GFA could stop the tournament when he received the necessary permission from GFA and also paid the necessary fees to the GFA.
Agnelo also stated that recently his club participated in the GFA annual general body meeting held in Panjim last month. He complained that if his club was at fault for any wrong then why did the GFA remain silent for long time and did not issue a notice to the club, he wondered.
