Candolim Sports Club prevailed over Football Club of Siolim 2-1 to enter the quarter- finals of Fr. Chico Cup inter-village football tournament sponsored by Bayside Properties Private Limited at Dr. Gustavo Monteiro stadium, Candolim on Monday.
Candolim began the match on a positive not and forged ahead in the 5th minute as a Jolief Simoes free kick entered the Siolim net. Candolim doubled the lead through Sagar who tapped the ball home off a well measured cross by Wesceslau Rebello.
Changing over, Siolim fought back and pulled one back through Anesh Palyekar. Siolim mounted pressure on the Candolim defence and could have levelled the score but a Sangam Pednekar header was parried to safety by Candolim goalkeeper Morje at the expense of a corner.
