PANJIM: Candolim Veterans defeated Varca Veterans 8-7 via the tie-breaker to move into the quarter-finals of the 2nd all Goa Clement memorial veterans football tournament, organised by Youth of Fatrade at Varca SC ground, on Monday.
Shankar scored the first goal for Candolim in the15th minute from the penalty spot. At the other end, Henry scored a brace for Varca in the 20th and 34th minutes. Later, Raju also added his name to the score sheet to make it 3-1 for Varca.
However, Candolim made a strong comeback and scored two quick goals in span of three minutes through Mohan and Succour to make it 3-3.
In the tie-breaker Candolim Veterans proved to be better shooters. Raju Carvalho of Varca was adjudged man of the match.
