MARGAO: A fine brace each by Paulu and Raymond helped Carribeans Boys to thump Junior Mount Boys, Chandor 4-0 in the final of 11th All-Goa Villa Marex Seamen football tournament organized by Villa Marex, Chandor, at Cavorim ground, Chandor, Sunday. Carribean Boys led 3-0 at half time.
Carribeans Boys virtually toyed with weak rival defence with sporadic raids as their opponents were struggling to catch the brisk pace.
Paulu who was in thick action put his team into the lead as early moments of the game when he placed the ball to the fat corner of the net. Soon, Paulu doubled the lead with a stiff grounder to give his team while Raymond put the issue beyond doubt when he beat the rival goalkeeper with neat finish, 3-0.
After the break, Carribeans Boys continued to enjoy the better share of exchanges and never allowed their opponents to come back into the game. Raymond drove the last nail into rival coffin late in the second half.
Carribeans Boys bagged Rs 45,000 while the runners-up settled for Rs 35,000.
Individual prizes were awarded to Man-of-the-match Raymond (Carribean Boys); First scorer of the final Paulu (Carribeans Boys); Best player of the tournament Moises D’sa (Mount Boys) and Best goalkeeper Ignatius (Carribean Boys).
Joaquim Alemao, ex-Urban Development minister was the chief guest and gave away the prizes in the presence of Seema Clafacio Dias, Zilla Panchayat member, Guirdolim constituency and Etelvina Travasso, sarpanch of Chandor.
