PANJIM: Goa Chess Association (GCA) is contemplating to organize international chess tournament provided the All India Chess Federation (AICF) gives a green signal during its annual meeting scheduled on November 10, at Chennai.
GCA President Vinay Tendulkar and GCA Secretary Kishore Bandekar will represent Goa at AICF annual meeting which will be held to discuss various issues including yearly programmes to be organized.
“We would request the AICF to grant us permission to organize international chess tournament. In Goa the international chess tournament was organized only once, in the year 2002 and we are looking forward to organise more such tournaments if AICF grants permission,” Vinay informed at a press conference, at Usgao, Tuesday.
Tendulkar, who is also the president of the newly formed Dharbandora Taluka Chess Association, disclosed their programme for the upcoming events.
DTCA is organising its first State level rapid chess tournament on November 16 and 17 at Mollem Panchayat hall, Mollem and according to organisers, about 200 players are expected to participate. The tournaments will carry cash prizes worth Rs 40,000.
“Prior to the State level tournament, we have also organised four-day chess coaching camp for students from Dharbandora schools, which will commence from November 6, at Mollem Panchayat hall, Mollem,” concluded Tendulkar.
