NAVELIM: Chinchinim Veterans defeated Mark Caterers Nuvem 4-2 via the tie-breaker to move into the quarter-finals of the Navelim Veterans football tournament, at Rosary ground, Navelim, on Tuesday.
Lotlikar of Chinchinim Veterans rolled a ball to Yuri Ferrao however Yuri’s strike at the goal was easily saved by Mark Caterers goalkeeper in the 6th minute.
Marcus Carvalho of Nuvem in the 16th minute sent in a header towards the goal however the ball ballooned over.
Marcus Carvalho drew the first blood for Mark Caterers in the 33rd minute.
At half time the scores read 1-0 in favour of Mark Caterers.
Crossing over, Chinchinim Veterans came back stronger and soon equalised through the boots of Yuri Ferrao in the 49th minute.
At full-time the scoreboard read 1-1.
In the resultant tie breaker Chinchinim Veterans netted through Yuri Ferrao, Mario Soares, Mahesh Lotlikar and John Leitao while Marcus Carvalho and Bobby Crasto netted for Mark Caterers, Nuvem.
