SERAULIM: Churchill Brothers SC blanked St Ana SC 2-0 in the GFA U-18 football league played at Seraulim ground, on Saturday.
The first half saw both the teams trying to score goals.
It was Hussain Pinjar of Churchill Brothers in the 6th minute who would have found the ball at the back of St Ana SC goal after receiving a pass from Jolan Fernandes but goalkeeper of St Ana SC Sahil Kunkolkar timely fisted away the ball to safety.
Manesh Adkakonkar of St Ana SC tried a solo effort in the 10th minute after dribbling past Churchill Brothers defenders Jaydon Rodrigues and Jolan but to the former’s dismay Churchill Brothers goalkeeper pushed away the ball.
Vijay Rathod of Churchill Brothers tried to net in off U-15 Aaron Rodrigues cross but Harshad Naik, defender of St Ana SC cleared the ball from goal line in the 48th minute.
This time a well-combined move by Aaron to Akash, who gave a back-foot pass to Vijay of Churchill Brothers, yielded the first fruit of the match with his curling shot in the 61st minute.
Immediacy, Kevin Negrado of St Ana SC took control of the ball from Yuvraj Narvekar and raced down from the centre and shot towards the goal but it hit the crosspiece of Churchill Brothers and went out of play.
Later, Aaron, tricky striker of Churchill Brothers pretended to shot but dogged St Ana SC’s couple of defenders and saw Sahil goalkeeper of St Ana SC came out of position, Aaron foxy shot made it 2-0 for Churchill in the 78th minute.
