NAVELIM: Churchill Bros SC defeated Canacona Sports Academy 1-0 goal in GFA’s U-14 Football League final of Salcete zone, at Navelim ground, on Tuesday.
Joyston Neves could have scored for Churchill Bros SC but failed to give finishing touches to a pass by Kemrich Cardoza in the 11th minute.
Canacona SA too had a chance to score in the 22nd minute but Valent Fernandes shot wide.
Change of ends saw Churchill Brothers SC enjoy the lion’s share of ball possession with good upfront moves but the defence of Canacona stood rock solid.
Churchill Bros SC scored the match-winner through Kemrich Cardoza, who chested the ball down calmly and released a venomous shot which crushed into the nets of Canacona SA in the 54th minute after an assist by Joyston.
