NACHINOLA: Corjuem clinched the Nachinola Challangers Trophy after edging past A A De Moira 2-1, organised by Bom Jesus boys and Scan Nachinola, at church ground, on Sunday.
In the 30th minute, Moira’s Sydney D’Mello scored with an open header giving no chance for the Corjuem goalkeeper.
Four minutes later, Corjuem’s Aron Dias equalised with a nice placement above the advancing Moira goalkeeper to make it 1-1.
Four minutes before the final whistle, Corjuem’s Harsh Parwar scored the match-winner with a 25 yard-left footer which curled on the top corner of the net.
The winners were awarded a cash prize of Rs 20,000 plus trophy while the runners-up had to settle for Rs 15,000 plus trophy.
Glen Ticlo, MLA of Aldona constituency was the chief guest and gave away the prizes to the winners and the runners-up in the presence of Freddy Fernandes, ex Sarpanch of Nachinola, Scan Club executive committee members Tony Sequiera, Delwin Nazarath, Marcelino D’souza, Tony Nazarath, Richard Fernandes and Savio Roy D’souza.
