MARGAO: Curtorim Gymkhana tasted their first win by scoring a solitary goal victory against Guardian Angel in the GFA Under-20 Taca Goa football tournament at Varca ground, on Wednesday.
In the first half, the score was goalless draw. The teams played an attacking game but the defence lines controlled the proceedings and kept the strikers at bay.
Curtorim Gymkhana in the 3rd minute itself could have surged ahead through Ladson Fernandes long ranger but to his dismay defender of Guardian Angel Clide Travasso blocked the move.
Guardian Angel too missed a chance in the 26th minute when Alvito Moura dribbled rival defender Tyrone Fernandes and took a shot at the goal but it was cleared by midfielder Charlton Dias, who came to the rescue of goalkeeper Lakesh Lamani in the 43rd minute.
Change of ends saw both the teams trying to score the match winner.
In the 48th minute, Curtorim Gymkhana missed a golden opportunity when Jaison Dias collected the ball from Mairon Fernandes to shoot straight into the goal but it hit the upright of Guardian Angel and rebound back to play which Jaison had an opportunity to score but shot wide.
Later, Ladson captilised on the free kick to score the match winner in the 62 minute.
