PANJIM: Curtorim Gymkhana made a remarkable come back to beat A.A de Moira 6-4 in the Geno First Division League organised by Goa Football Association (GFA), played at Sirsaim ground, on Monday.
The Moira side took the lead in the 18th minute through Shadab Shaikh while Medhay Chancokar doubled the side’s lead in the 25th minute.
Cliff Barretto reduced the margin as he netted a goal for the Curtorim side in the 27th minute.
But nothing seemed to have been stopped the Moira side went out in full attack and netted two more goals before the half-time. Shadab Shaikh and Rudresh Tendulkar added a goal each as they went into the break with a comfortable 4-1 lead.
The second half witnessed a complete turn of events as the Curtorim side were not going to lose the important points at this stage of the league.
Cliff Barretto made it 2-4 in the 51st minute with a fine finish.
Milagres Fernandes scored another goal in the 56th minute for the Curtorim side.
The next minute saw Royle Borges make it 4-4 with a fine finish into the nets which was in no reach of the Moira keeper.
Milagres Fernandes completed his brace in the 66th minute as he gave the Curtorim side a lead.
Liston Fernandes added another late goal in the 83rd minute as the Curtorim side stagged a tough come back and walked away with all three important points.
In another game at Artificial Turf, Fatorda Youth Club of Manora beat Clube Sao Minguel De Taleigao 2-0.
The YC Manora had an upper hand in the game over a weak Taleigao side and dominated proceedings from the start. After a couple of missed attempts they finally managed to surge ahead in the 38th minute through Francis Andrade.
The second half failed to see the Taleigao side recover from the lone goal and they went on to concede another goal at the hour mark as Joshua Fernandes’s neat shot landed into the post amidst a blank Taleigao goalkeeper.
Elsewhere, Goa Police edged past Dempo SC 1-0. Rohit Pilgaunkar scored the lone goal in the 6th minute as the early goal snatched away three points for the police.
