CHICALIM: Dempo Juniors defeated Ghumteshwar Warriors by huge margin of 86 runs to emerge champions in the 2nd late Ahmed Khan T20 cricket tournament , organised by Noorani Sports & Cultural Club in association with Felicity group, at SAG ground Chicalim.
Batting first, Dempo Juniors piled up 215 for 5 in the allotted 20 overs with Man-of-the-Match Bharat Arkas top scored with 76 in 40 balls with 8X4 & 5×6. In reply, Ghumteshwar Warriors inning was dismissed by Dempo bowlers in just 129 runs.
The winners Dempo Juniors were richer by Rs 1 lakh and a trophy while Ghumteshwar Warriors had to be content with Rs 50,000 and trophy. Chairperson of Mormugao Municipal Council Deepak Naik was the chief guest and gave away the prizes in the presence of Suraj Lotlikar – President of Goa Cricket Association, Daya Pagi – Secretary of GCA and Jamir carol – Treasurer of GCA.
Following are the Individual prizes: Man-of-the-Series: Aniket Desai (Ghumteshwar Warriors); Man-of-the-Match: Bharat Arkas (Dempo Juniors); Best bowler: Sagar Gosavi (Dempo Juniors); best batsman: Vishwjeet Fadte (Ghumteshwar Warriors).
Brief scores: Dempo Juniors, 215 for 4 in 20 overs (Bharat Arkas 76, Nikhil Naik 35*, Amey Dhamshekar 31, Sherbahadur Yadav 29 runs. Tekbahadur 2-26, Harish Naik 1-37, Satyajeet Bachav 1-23) beat Ghumteshwar Warriors, 129 all out in 18 overs (Naushad Shaikh 24, Aniket Desai 19, Rituraj Gaekwad 21 runs. Sherbahadur Yadav 3-14, Robin D’souza 2-33, Vinay Chowdhary 2-35).
