It was an all-round clinical performance by the Golden Eagles who dominated most of the proceedings.
Calangute had the first chance in the fifth minute but Denson Fernandes’ header from a corner-kick struck defender Shallum Pires and went out for a corner.
In the 11th minute a neat up build up between Dempo’s Alber Gonsalves and U-20 Rajat Harijan saw the ball released to Joaquim Abranches who connected the ball but lacked direction.

There was a sudden shift in the tempo on crossing ends as Dempo ran rampant scoring three goals to condemn Calangute to their opening defeat in the league.
Also had substitute Beevan D’Mello showed more composure in front of the goal the score line would have been further embarrassing for Calangute.
It was 2-0 in the 65th minute, Nickson Castanha flashed in a cross which was volleyed by Beevan D’Mello but keeper Sanij Bugde somehow managed to keep it out but unluckily it came to Pedro Gonsalves who smashed the ball into the net.
Beevan D’Mello made up for his earlier misses by stabbing the ball home from a rebound after Aman Govekar`s shot was smartly stopped by keeper Sanji Bugde to make it 3-0.
Calangute who had shown so more promise in their previous matches seemed like a disjointed side and conceded the fourth goal in the 87th minute when Dempo’s Alber Gonsalves after being teed up by Yogesh Kadam calmly beat the keeper with a deft placement to make it 4-0.
