Dunes Sports Club, Mandrem, Clinch Saligao Super Soccer Cup 2025 After Thrilling Tie-Breaker Win

MAPUSA: Dunes Sports Club, Mandrem, edged past St Savio Sports Club, Calangute, 5-4 via tie-breaker in the final to clinch Saligao Super Soccer Cup 2025 organised by Saligao United, at the Vagator ground.
St Savio SC opened the scoring in the 10th minute with Pedro Gonsalves’ assisting Fasel D’Souza in netting the goal. Just three minutes later, there was a quick response from Dunes SC to net the equaliser as a corner taken by Myson Britto dropped into the goal area following a scramble, but Arjun Shetgaonkar was on the end of it.
In the 27th minute, Myson with a square pass to his teammate Sanmesh Raul whose shot was put away by St Savio SC goalkeeper Philip Coutinho.
At crossing ends, St Savio SC, with a great chance to take the lead in the 40th minute, Tannay Kerkar dribbled his way through and took a shot at goal but Dunes SC custodian Santosh Pujar stood tall.
In the final minutes of the match, St Savio SC were awarded a free-kick near the half way line which was floated in the box by Runal Shirodkar but substitute Alwyn Fernandes missed to score. At full time, both teams were at 1-1 draw.
Moving into the tie-breaker, Dunes SC scored through Myson, Sylvester, Anthony, Sanket, while Nehal and Pranesh missed their kicks. For St Savio SC, Pedro, Myron and Tannay were on target,while Runal, Joshua and Nigel failed to convert.
The winners were awarded Rs 80,000 plus trophy, while the runners-up received Rs 60,000 plus trophy.
