PANJIM: Fatorda Veterans beat Chinchinim Veterans 2-0 to emerge champions of the all Goa 8-a-side Loutolim Veterans cup, organised by Loutolim Veterans, played at Church ground, Loutolim, recently.
Fatorda Veterans’ Agnelo Colaco had the first real chance of the match but his powerful shot hit the crossbar and went out of play. In the 25th minute, Presley Pereira of Chinchinim Veterans had a chance to score but he shot wide. With no much action, both teams failed to break the deadlock.
In the second half, Fatorda Veterans broke the deadlock in the 35th minute through Agnelo Gomes. Up by a goal, Fatorda took control of the game and didn’t take long before they could score their second through Remmy Barreto.
Chief guest Fr Ligorinho D’ Costa and guest of honour Domnic Gauncar gave way the prizes to the winners and runners-up. Fatorda took home Rs 30,000 while the runners-up had to be content with Rs 25,000.
