AMBORA: Fatorda Veterans beat Loutolim veterans 3-2 via the tie-breaker to move into the quarter-finals of the Rachol Veterans football tournament, played at Camorlim, Ambora ground, on Saturday.
In the 5th minute, Loutolim striker Augustine Cardozo took control of the ball from Jil Soares and dribbled past Mahesh Kambi and Seby Vaz and shot from close range but the Fatorda keeper was equal to the task.
At the other end, Fatorda’s Santano Furtado and Sebastiao’s set piece should have netted the first goal but Jil Soares the lanky defender of Loutolim thwarted the move in the 12th minute.
Caetano Dias and Seby Vaz missed a chance each to score for Fatorda as both shot wide in the 35th and 37th minute while for Loutolim Henry and Gilu missed chances in the 43rd and 46th minute respectively.
In the tie-breaker, Fatorda Veterans netted through Francisco Colaco, Vincent Barbosa and Sebastiao Furtado while for Loutolim Veterans Hendry and Augustine scored.
Fatorda Veterans will now meet the winners of Panjim Veterans and Varca Veterans in the quarter-finals on March 18.
