MARGAO: Hosts A.A. De Majorda scored a fluent 3-0 win over Union of Chinchinim Villagers to cruise into the semi-finals of all-Goa Fr Basilo Andrade memorial inter-village football tournament, at Musson ground, Majorda, Friday. A.A De Majorda led 2-0 at the half time.
Majorda showed good resilience and in the 15th minute broke the deadlock when Naveen Mendes punished the rival goalkeeper with deft placement.
Early success gave boost to Majorda to intensify their attacks and doubled the lead in the 20th minute when Flyod Fernandes shot deflect from rival defender and eluded the Chinchinim goalkeeper.
After the break, Majorda continued to dictate terms and enjoyed the lion share of exchanges but their opponents failed to function as a cohesive unit. Wellington Fernandes rounded off the tally in the 50th minute to troop out worthy winners.
