PANJIM: The Goa Football Association (GFA) unveiled jerseys for football referees for the upcoming 2024-25 season at a ceremony held, on Saturday.
The event was graced by GFA President Caitano Fernandes, Chairman of the Referee’s Committee Constancio Paul Rodrigues and other members of the GFA Executive Committee.

Speaking at the launch, Fernandes emphasised on the crucial role referees play in the smooth conduct of football matches across the State.
“The referees have been instrumental in the successful conduct of football games in the State, and this season, they continue to be the backbone of our football progress. We are deeply grateful for their unwavering dedication and professionalism. Today, we are thrilled to unveil the new kit for the referees, who truly deserve the respect and recognition that comes with their indispensable role in the game,” stated Fernandes.
Expressing gratitude towards the sponsors, Fernandes added, “We are also thankful to VectorX, our sponsors, who have generously provided the kits for our referees. Their support is vital in ensuring that our officials are well-equipped for the upcoming season.”
Chairman of the Referee’s Committee Constancio echoed the sentiments of the GFA president highlighting the continuous improvement in refereeing standards within the State.
“The referees’ standards in Goa are consistently improving, and our officials are committed to the successful conduct of matches. We extend our heartfelt thanks to the referees for officiating the games with such dedication throughout the season,” Constancio remarked.
He further encouraged the youth of Goa to consider a career in refereeing, noting, “I appeal to youngsters to come forward and enroll in the referees’ courses whenever they are announced. Joining the referee community is not just about officiating games; it’s about contributing to the growth and development of Goan football.”
