MAPUSA: The GFA Vedanta Women’s League match between Panjim Footballers and Albert Developers scheduled to be held at Duler stadium on Friday, failed to take place due to miscommunication from the Goa Football Association (GFA) headquarters.
The match which was scheduled at 4 p.m. had been rescheduled for 6 p.m. by GFA.
Accordingly, the Albert Developers team reported so also the match officials but Panjim Footballers came on the ground at the earlier timings.
“Our team reported for the match at 4 p.m. as scheduled by GFA. We were not informed about the rescheduling by the GFA. There was no communication made either by e-mail or phone”, Panjim Footballers team manager Anthony Vaz informed Herald.
“We came to know about the rescheduling only after we reached Duler Stadium. We could have waited but as the players are from far-off places there would be no late transport available, secondly their parents were not ready to keep them late hence we had to leave soon”, he said.
“If the team was informed about the rescheduling we would have made proper arrangements for accommodation or travelling as some players are just 14 to 15 years old”, Anthony added.
The match was called off by the referee after the Inspection of the Albert Developers players’ cards.
Albert Developers team manager Venancio Gonsalves said that they were informed about the rescheduling of the match by GFA and accordingly reported for the match.
GFA’s Secretary Welwin Menezes failed to pick up the calls from Herald to give a better light of the above episode.
