GFDC Pernem centre marks second anniversary

PANJIM: Goa Football Development Centre’s Pernem centre recently marked second anniversary. To mark the occasion, in an exhibition girls match, Pernem outplayed Siolim vie the tie-breaker after a goalless draw at the end of regulation time.

PANJIM: Goa Football Development Centre’s Pernem centre recently marked second anniversary. 
To mark the occasion, in an exhibition girls match, Pernem outplayed Siolim vie the tie-breaker after a goalless draw at the end of regulation time.
Addressing at a valedictory function, Chairman Dr Rufino Monteiro congratulated both the teams for an entertaining display of skill, possession and inspiring other girls to take up football. 
He was pleased to see in matter of two years Pernem centre has developed so progressively with Namita Govekar and Arpita Pednekar representing Goa and also making it to India camp. 
Dr Rufino thanked Pedne Sports Club members, St Joseph High School principal, committee and parents for providing support in making a wonderful progress at the centre. 
“Without a collective effort success was not possible,” he added. 
Among the dignitaries present were council member Shantaram Naik, Mahesh Sawant, PE teacher of St Joseph High School; Mahadev Shenvi Desai, council member of municipality; Shridar Shenvi Desai, treasurer of Pedne Sports Club; Vinayak Kamat, member of Pernem consultative committee. 
Raju Bondre, club’s vice-president compered and proposed the vote of thanks. 
The centre is administered by Pedne Sports Club under supervision of Siddesh Harmalkar and Sandesh Asolkar and is coached by Zeena Soares, Pradip Chopdekar and Xavier Fernandes.
