AGENCIES, GUWAHATI: Team Goa played out a goalless draw against Delhi to qualify for the semi-finals of the U-21 footballl at Khelo India Games Guwahati , at the Laxmibai National Institute of Physical Education football ground, Sonapur.
Both the teams requiring a win to stay alive in the competition, from the start displayed robust performance in terms of skill, pace, aggression and determination. However, they could not outwit the other to come on the scoreboard till the final whistle.
With this stalemate, Goa finished all the three league matches with 1 win and 2 draws, accumulating 5 points to finish second in group B.
Goa will now play Punjab group A Toppers, in the first semi-final on January 20.
Goa ace pugilist Suman Yadav entered the semi-finals of the 50 kgs boxing competition by RSC, demolishing her opponent Samikchya Chettri of Sikkim. With this victory, Suman is now assured of a bronze medal.
The Goan quartet of Shrungi Bandekar, Sanjana Prabhugaonkar, Cynthia Choudhury & Mithika Karapurkar clocked 4:18:38 to finish 5th, behind Maharashtra, Karnataka, Delhi & Tamil Nadu in the U-17 Girls 4x100m relay.
