MAPUSA: Milagres Sports Club registered a comfortable 3-0 win over Sinquerim Sports Club to maintain a perfect start in the GFA’s 2nd Division league, at Duler Stadium, here, on Saturday.
Milagres unbeaten in the league have two wins from their two matches, were leading 1-0 at half time with goals coming from Edgar Noronha, Diptesh Naik and Sidharth Kundaikar.
Milagres opened the scoring in the 18th minute, striker Edgar Noronha disposed Gouresh Sawal off the ball and busted towards the goal and on entering the box kept his calm to round off the advancing keeper Devaraj Tari and roll the ball into the goal.
Mahamad Aga was unlucky not to double Milagres lead in the added time when his well struck shot was stopped by Sinquerim’s Gouresh for a corner.
Crossing ends, Milagres continued in the same vein and made it 2-0 five minutes later when Diptesh Naik beat the off-side trap to get hold off a long ball from Mahamad Aga to beat the keeper with a deft placement.
Rohan Pednekar scuffed a decent chance of making it 3-0 for Milagres. Minutes later, when he could not get past keeper Devraj Tari in one-to-one situation in the 60th minute.
However, it did not take long for skipper Sidharth Kundaikar to find the net for Milagres minutes later with a fierce shot from outside the penalty box to make it 3-0.
Sinquerim keeper Devraj Tari brought up two brilliant saves in the closing minutes of the match first stopping Sidharth from getting his second goal and then showing safe hands to collect substitute Izahar Khan stinging long ranger from 25-yards out
