PANJIM: The Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Ramesh Tawadkar presented Tribal Sports Scholarship 2013-14 to 39 tribal sportspersons who had excelled at the State and National level championships in various sports discipline at a special function organized by Sports Authority of Goa, at Athletic Stadium, Bambolim.
Tawadkar in his address informed, “He has tried his level best to improve the facilities to the tribals by forming various scheme so that remote village boys and girls can participate at the State, National and International levels.
He also declared that the cash incentives under Tribal Sports Scholarship Scheme has been increased for secondary school, HSS, college and open level at State, National, International and open level from Rs 6,600 to Rs 9,000, Rs 9,000 to Rs 12,000 and Rs 18,000 to Rs 20,000 respectively.
He further emphasized that tribal sportsperson should take all the benefits under the various tribal schemes of the Government of Goa.
Others present were Govind Jaiswal, Executive Director, SAG and Vivek Pawar, project incharge and Assistant Secretary (complexes), SAG. Earlier, Jaiswal welcomed the gathering. Nilesh Naik compered while Pawar proposed the vote of thanks.
