CALANGUTE: Holy Cross Arambol defeated Goa Velha Sports Club 2-0 to move into semi finals of 16th Vagator All-Goa inter-village football tournament organized by Vagator Parish Youth Sports Club at Ozrant ground, Vagator, on Friday.
Arambol started attackingly with a plan and it took them just two minutes to find the breakthrough.
Shashank Aswekar intelligently set up Sylvester Dias in an ideal position and the latter finished perfectly to give his team the important lead.
Subsequently, Arambol continued in the same attacking fashion and could have doubled their advantage on a couple of occasions but Goa Velha goalkeeper Agnelo came up with outstanding saves by living Shashank and Domnic frustrated.
Chattur Naik almost restored parity for Goa Velha but rival keeper Keewan affected a brilliant save.
Changing over, after coming close to scoring on couple of occasions, Hemant Rodrigues put the issue beyond doubt for Arambol as he meticulously scored in the 58th minute, 2-0.
