Infant Jesus High School, Colva beat Subroto Mukherjee champions Our Lady of Rosary High School, Fatorda 5-4 via the tie-breaker to emerge Salcete Taluka under-14 boys inter-school football champions at Government ground, Manora, Raia on Thursday. The teams were locked goalless at the end of normal period.
The teams exhibited a good brand of soccer and went on the offensive right from kick off and tested the goalkeepers, but without success.
Rosary showed greater urgency in the second half, but Infant Jesus defenders were quick in thwarting the rival forwards with neat tackles.
Infant Jesus emerged victors in the tie-breaker. Stanley Rodrigues, Sneeden Rodrigues, Dipraj Gaude, Kelbern Fernandes and Keegan Menezes were on target. Jesmon Soares, Sher Dami, Clive Miranda and Kayven Araujo scored for Rosary.
Flora Valladares, Headmistress, Infant Jesus High School, Colva was the chief guest and distributed the certificates. Bevyln Colaco e Rodrigues, Salcete TSO welcomed and later proposed the vote of thanks.
