The game was called off following a sudden blackout at the venue, which was later revealed to be part of precautionary security measures, as nearby regions like Jammu and Pathankot faced heightened risks.
The situation deteriorated further after India launched “Operation Sindoor,” a retaliatory military strike targeting terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. The move came in response to a deadly terrorist attack in Pahalgam last month. As a result, several northern cities reported blackouts, drone alerts, and the closure of key transport hubs like Kangra airport. The BCCI, citing player safety as its top priority, has begun coordinating evacuation efforts for overseas players and staff, with alternate flight paths and special trains being arranged to bypass conflict zones.

At the time of suspension, quite a few league matches and knockout games were still left to be played.
