The IPL 2026 Eliminator between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals is set to take place at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium on Wednesday evening, with the winner advancing to Qualifier 2.
SRH entered the playoffs after finishing third in the league standings with nine wins and five defeats from 14 matches. Although they ended with the same win-loss record as Gujarat Titans and Royal Challengers Bengaluru, their lower net run rate of +0.524 forced them into the Eliminator instead of Qualifier 1.
RR, meanwhile, sealed their playoff berth after defeating Mumbai Indians in their final league game at the Wankhede Stadium. The Royals finished with eight wins from 14 matches. Interestingly, SRH defeated RR in both league-stage meetings this season.
What Happens If Rain Washes Out The Match?
Unlike the IPL final, there is no reserve day for the Eliminator, Qualifier 1 or Qualifier 2. However, tournament rules allow officials to conduct a standalone Super Over if weather interrupts play and a full match is not possible.
If even a Super Over cannot be completed due to rain, then the team that finished higher in the league standings automatically advances to the next stage.
That means SRH would qualify for Qualifier 2 if the Eliminator is abandoned without a result, as they finished above RR on the points table.
SRH would then face Gujarat Titans in Qualifier 2 after GT suffered a heavy 92-run defeat against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Qualifier 1.
