Jesus & Mary Sarvajanik HS, Damodar, Immaculate Conception HS advance

PANJIM: Jesus and Mary Sarvajanik High School, Carambolim edged past St Tereza High School, St Estevam 4-2 via the tie-breaker in the Subroto Mukerjee under-17 football tournament organized by DSYA at Dr Remigio Pinto ground, Taleigao, on Friday.

At the end of regulation time, the teams failed to score. Jesus and Mary Sarvajanik HS and St Tereza High School displayed good footballing skills but the rains played spoilsport.
Jesus and Mary Sarvajanik HS came close to taking lead but to their dismay Jay Faterpekar’s try hit the crosspiece.
Rankit Choudhury, Alden D’Souza, Vishal Vargonkar, Vishal Kawlekar and Jay Faterpekar played excellent even though the ground was waterlogged. 
In the resultant tie-breaker, Rankit, Alden, Vishal Vargoankar and Jay converted for Jesus and Mary Sarvajanik High School while Ronaldo and Yuvraj were on target for St St Tereza High School. 
Meanwhile, Damodar Higher Secondary School, Gudi-Paroda and Immaculate Conception High School, Avedem-Paroda moved into the second round.
Immaculate Conception HS defeated New Educational Institute, Curchorem 3-0. Damodar HSS started their campaign in a style with a fluent 6-0 win over Holy Cross Institute, Quepem. 
Ivon Costa, Listen D’Costa scored a brace each while Danloy Vales and Pelly Menezes added one each. The matches were held under the supervision of TSO Motilal Gaonkar.
