PANJIM: SCC, Loutolim sneaked into the quarter-finals of the Fr Agnelo Youth Inter-Village Football tournament organized by Fr Agnelo Youth Sports Club, Paroda at Panchayat grounds, Avedem, Paroda by defeating Margao Sports Club 2-1.
Margao held the upper hand in the opening session with their forwards and mid-fielders working in tandem to put rival defence into disarray. Their persistent raids in the rivals territory bore fruit in the 12th minute of the first session when Xavier D’Silva received a beautiful pass from his teammate Christon Pinto and former placed it calmly into the nets.
After change of ends, SCC, Loutolim dominated the game and kept the opponents on the defensive. Later in the 17th minute of the 2nd session Oswald Dias equalized to make it 1-1. Loutolim were spurred with the equalizer and looked more confident. In the dying minutes of the match Oswald Dias scored the winner.
