Maxem Boys emerge champs

Maxem Boys defeated Nirankar, Mastimoll Boys 2-0 in the finals of mini-lighting 7-a-side football tournmament organised by SFX Sports Club, Bhatpal at Mokardamoll grounds, Bhatpal.
Clemy Fernandes shone for Maxem Boys scoring both goals and leading his team towards victory.
The winners became richer by Rs.5555 while the the runners-up had to be content with Rs.3333. In all, 20 teams from all over Canacona participated.
In the semi-final, Maxem boys overcame the stiff challenge of Challengers Sports Club, Pedem by scoring two hard-fought goals against none. Nirankar boys, Mastimoll pipped Young Strikers, Xeller 1-0 in the second semi-final.
Canacona Lions Club president, Moteshino Fernandes was the chief guest and gave away the prizes in the presence of Bhatpal parish priest, Fr. Vincent Leitao and Capuchin Fr. Franky Fernandes.
Earlier Fr. Franky welcomed. Bendick Fernandes proposed the vote of thanks.
