After a goalless first half, Mormugao forged ahead in the 35th minute through Abhijit Chodankar. Paul Sequeira doubled the lead scoring in the 58th minute. Candolim went all out and had a golden opportunity to reduce the margin in the 59th minute as they were awarded a penalty but Antonio Kumar shot wide much to the disappointment of the Candolim fans.
