RAIA: Navelim Sporting Club blanked United Club of Verna 2-0 to move into the quarter-finals of 3rd Uday Shirodkar memorial inter-village football tournament organised by Shiroda Youth Club at Subhash Chandra Bose sports complex, Karai-Shiroda, on Monday
Both teams took time to settle and were eager to get the early break but couldn’t find it.
As the game was nearing to half time Travis Souza of Navelim SC took control of the ball and slot past UC Verna goalkeeper and remained 1-0 lead at the lemon break.
In the second session, UC Verna nearly missed the scoring opportunities and Navelim SC captilised on the opportunity and scored through Travis Souza in the 45th minute to complete his brace and remained 2-0 ahead till the final whistle.
