Navelim schools dominate to set up all-local final in Raia

RAIA: It will be an all-Navelim showdown in the U-14 boys’ Fr Peter SVD Memorial Football final after Our Lady of Rosary HS and Perpetual Succour Convent HS cruised past their semi-final opponents at the SVD seminary ground, on Wednesday.

In the first match, Rosary HS defeated Bethany Convent HS, Sao Jose de Areal, 3-1. Snyden Gomes opened the scoring in the 8th minute, before Morrison Rocha equalised in the 28th. Clive Colaco restored Rosary’s lead in the 36th and Gomes netted his second to seal victory. Ricky Fernandes was named man-of-the-match, receiving his award from Raia Sarpanch Jacinta Dias. Kevin Fernandes and Vaibhav Raut were also present.

In the second match, Perpetual Succour eased past St Joseph’s Educational Institute, Chandor, 4-0. Pavel Pires (3rd) and Sereno D’Silva (13th) struck early, with Daison Colaco (25th) and Ethan Carvalho (36th) completing the rout. Valen Fernandes of St Joseph’s took the man-of-the-match award, presented by Fr Innocent Fernandes SVD.
