PANJIM: ONGC emerged winners of the Goa Corporate League after defeating Reliance One by 5 wickets in the finals, at Goa Cricket Academy, Porvorim, on Sunday.
ONGC won the toss and elected to field. Reliance One scored 189 for 8 in their 20 overs. Tejinder and Hitesh Dalah opened the batting. Tejinder scored 25 off 19 balls before being sent back to the pavilion by Summit Narwal. Skipper Saurabh Tiwari fell for a duck. Nikhil Naik scored 39 off 25 balls while wicket keeper Jitesh Sharma managed to put up 68 runs off 31 balls.
The ONGC bowlers put in a formidable effort as Pankaj Jaiswal and Summit Narwal scalped 3 wickets each.
In reply, ONGC chased down the target in just 18 overs. Mayank Rawat was the top scorer as he scored 61 off 35 balls while Nitish Rawat scored a decent 38 off 23 balls.
The Reliance One bowlers couldn’t do much to contain their opponents as Pawan Negi took 2 wickets while Sangwan and Tejinder grabbed a wicket each. Mayank Rawat was awarded the Player-of-the-Match.
