MARGAO: Panchwadi United beat Arlem Youth Association 5-4 via the tie-breaker to storm into the semi final of the All Goa Mandopa Cup inter-village football tournament organized by Mandopa Sporting Club at Mandopa ground, on Thursday.
Both the teams were tied 1-1 at the end of the match.
Arlem started the gamein right earnest right from the word and shot into the lead in the 10th minute when Rahul Dias picked up the ball from his colleague Joston Barbosa and unleashed a stiff sho,t which crashed into the net keeping the Panchwadi goalkeeper dazed .
Panchwadi United tried their best and created umpteen forays into the rival territory and their efforts bore the fruit when Avron D’ Costa equalized with a clean grounder.
After the breather, both the teams displayed attacking brand of soccer and kept the crowds on their toes. Both goalkeepers showed fine reflexes and anticipation to keep their slate clean till the final whistle.
In the penalty shoot out, Aron Almeida , Samson D” Costa ,Thomas D’Costa and Melliston Pereira converted for Panchwaddi United while Joston Barbosa, Remedios Pango and Wilfred Gomes scored for Arlem Youth Association.
