PANJIM: Panjim Footballers and Salgaocar FC played out a 1-1 draw in the Goa Football Association Goa Professional League at Duler Stadium, Mapusa, on Wednesday.
Panjim Footballers took the lead in the seventh minute through Irfan Yadwad and had control of the game in the first quarter of the game.
Salgaocar FC had many prominent faces missing from their team and the side weren’t at the best.
It has been learnt that team’s star players Chaitan Komarpant, Stephen Satarkar and few others have parted ways with the club. Among the many, the duo were key players for SFC during the last couple of seasons at the club.
However, they luckily managed to grab their equaliser in the 40th minute through Fhezer Gomes.
In the second half, despite the sides creating chances, they couldn’t get the ball at the back of the net.
With this result, Panjim Footballers climbed to eight th position with seven points while Salgaocar FC remain in the seventh position with 12 points from eight games.
In another match, Churchill Brothers FC defeated Calangute Association 2-1 at Chowgule ground.
It was surprising to see former ISL winner Keenan Almeida play in the Goa Pro League with Churchill Brothers side however, having captained a young CBFC side the skipper ensured the team grabbed full points.
Churchill Brothers FC took the lead in the 15th minute through Jobern Cardozo. They led 1-0 at the break.
In the second half, another U20 player Shanon Viegas scored the second of the day for the Red Machines to make it 2-0.
Moises D’Sa pulled a goal back for the losing side.
