MAPUSA: PVC Parra registered a 5-4 win over Augustias Sporting Club in Goveia Cup match played at Colvale Church ground, on Sunday.
In the 10th minute, Augustias SC Bhuvan Parwar’s long ranger sailed over the cross piece.
Another golden opportunity for Augustias SC to go ahead was squandered by Sahil Kalangutkar.
PVC Parra started the second half with an attacking mode creating atleast three clear chances but failed to score.
In the tie-breaker, PVC Parra emerged winners.
The player-of-the-match was awarded to Akash Parwar of Augustias SC by Brian Rodrigues, YSC Colvale Executive Committee member.
In the earlier match, St Savio’s SC, Calangute, managed to scrape past hosts YSC Colvale.
All the goals came in the second session of play.
In the 40th minute, St Savio’s SC went ahead through Karran’s volley giving no chance to Colvale goalkeeper. Seven minutes later, St Savio’s SC doubled their lead with Pedro Gonsalves latching a fierce right footer (2-0).
In the 60th minute, YSC Colvale managed to reduce the margin with John Xavier Mendonca tapping the ball into the goal off Om Narvekar’s cross (1-2).
The player-of-the-match was awarded to Karan Maratha of St Savio’s SC by Anthony Mendes, YSC Colvale Executive Committee member.
