MARGAO: Raia Sporting Club thumped Gloria Sporting Club 5-1 in the Third Division Football League match organized by Goa Football Association, at Raia panchayat ground, on Tuesday.
Raia Sporting Club dominated and scored three goals early on. In the very first minute Ciana Fernandes scored through a grounder after being set up perfectly by Felix D’Mello.
Thereafter, Gloria SC tried to bounce back into the match but Savio Gomes’ long ranger was blocked by the goalkeeper of Raia Sporting Club in the 12th minute after a solo effort.
Subsequently, Raia Sporting Club continued to enjoy the lion’s share of ball possession as Felix D’Mello scored a brace with goals in the 25th and 44th minutes.
Crossing over, it all came crumbling down for Gloria Sporting Club as their opponents netted their fourth goal of the evening Savio Gomes’ 60th minute grounder gave no chance to the diving rival goalkeeper.
In the 63rd minute, Raia Sporting Club made it 5-0 as Vaibhav Naik joined the party with a neat placement.
However, Gloria Sporting Club pulled a goal back in the 71st minute through Joshua Gomes.
