CURTORIM: Rossman Cruz Nagoa Verna scored a narrow 1-0 win over Parish Youth Nuvem to move into the semi-finals of the Curtorim Panchayat Cup organised by Maina Sports Club, at Curtorim ground, on Tuesday.
Rossman’s Hilton Fernandes took control of the ball from Myron and dribbled past a couple of Nuvem defenders and shot from the top of Nuvem box but the latter’s shot hit the cross bar of Nuvem and went out of play in the fourth minute.
Two minutes later Nuvem’s Milagres Fernandes’ powerful grounder should have found the net but was timely saved by the Rossman keeper.
It was Myron Fernandes who netted the match-winner with a curling free-kick in the 13th minute.
Later in the second half, Nuvem tried to equalise through Mafen and Milagres’ long range shots but the rival keeper was equal to the task on several occasions.
Rossman Cruz Nagoa Verna will now meet the winners of Carmona SC and Ugem Rising Club, Sanguem in the semi-final.
