Rossman Cruz Sports Club, Nagoa, Verna defeated Nuvem Football Club 2-0 to march into the finals of St Anthony’s football tournament organised by St Anthony’s Sports Club at Assolda ground. There was no score at half time.
Play was confined to midfield with both teams going for occasional attacks.
Nuvem Football Club slowly took over and came close to scoring but striker Borges was the culprit as he muffed three sitters with only Rossman Cruz goalkeeper at his mercy.
After the barren first half, Rossman Cruz put up a better display and rocked the rival citadel midway in the second session when Martires Abranches slotted past the rival goalkeeper off a pass from Basilio.
Substitute John Fernandes consolidated the lead when his rasping drive deflected from the rival goalkeeper and off the rebound John Fernandes made no mistake in punting the ball in.
Nuvem Football Club tried their best but failed to get past the strong rival rearguard.
In another semi-final, Mandopa Sports Club thrashed Arlem Youth Association 3-0. Vikas Dale, Franky Pereira and Jaison Pereira were the goal getters.
